Lusitano-Training over TimeHorse Training over Time, One and the Same:   Horses have been a part of our lives since time began.   When mankind was young and dedicated most of his time to hunting and gathering within the small area where he lived all of his life, horses were an important part of his diet.   In fact, it is well known that the Native American Indians, thousands of years later appreciate horse flesh very much.   They stole the pioneers horses and mules so they could feast on their meat.   At the beginning, mankind was restricted to small areas of land because of their inability to move great distances with their families and belongings.

Lusitano-Training over TimeThey started by domesticating the dog and would tie small packs to their backs using them as pack animals so they could have their hands free to carry their weapons and be ready for the hunt.   With time and evolution, they captured and domesticated the horse which back then was smaller than it is now.   They learned to train them in much the same way as their dogs.   They tied a weight on the horse’s back and let him try to take the load off his back.   Eventually the horse tired and they realized horse couldn’t carry the load any longer.   Those horses that did not accept the burden were simply eaten and animal selection began.
