Lusitano-ImpulsionImpulsion is the stored power and strength inside the horse.   It is the horse’s ability to store and use energy through his hind quarters while freeing the forehands.   The natural movement of a horse is governed by a movement of energy from the front to the back and vice versa, when the horse controls its energy using it mostly in his hind legs while he learns to balance his front legs.   It requires the concentration of the horse on all its movements especially during the faster more complicated routines.

Lusitano-ImpulsionManagement and control is essential to perform most of the exercises and routines used to judge a horse in dressage events.   It also requires the strengthening and control of the hind quarters so the horse can hold a pose or stand quietly and elegantly on its hind quarters and even jump on them.
